Universal Gas CalibrationThe Searchline Excel™ Plus and Searchline Excel™ Edge have a tighter response to C1 to C5 + Ethylene and Propylene gases enabling a performance certified to ANSI/FM/IEC/EN60079-29-4 Universal gas calibration. Other specific gas calibrations are also available.
The scope of the Universal Gas Calibration is to cover a range of gases within one calibration that meets the requirements of the performance standard.
It delivers coverage for gases that are mixes of these - i.e. Natural Gas and in the appropriate application, removes the need for a special calibration to address potential breakout or end-user safety concerns.
To be able to use standard hydrocarbon (HC) to cover several specific but different gases – e.g. in a Refinery one version covers different applications
The range of specific gases that the Universal HC calibration covers is Methane, Ethane, Propane, Butane, Pentane, Ethylene and Propylene. These gases meet the performance specification standard. History shows this can cover more than 90% of typical applications. A set of specific and different Safety Cases can be addressed with one Universal HC Gas calibration.
Natural gas is typically a mix of the same set of gases in different percentages. The Universal HC calibration allows the performance certification for LEL to hold for the different mixes.
