The fully automatic process refractometers iPR B³ continuously measure the refractive index and thus the concentration of solids in solution or the mixing ratios of binary or quasi-binary liquid mixtures. The measurement is independent of process air, turbidity, colour of the process solution and the light intensity of the LED. It is free of signal drifts, ensuring the highest precision and better process control. Inline real-time measurement takes place at intervals> 1 s.
The iPR B³ replaces the well-known iPR Basic² models. The stand-alone process sensor with integrated electronics ranks among the range of SCHMIDT + HAENSCH process refractometers between the compact model iPR C² and the full-range model iPR FR². The new sensor with a measuring range up to 90% Brix (1.52 refractive index) is suitable for almost all applications in the food production and pharmaceutical industry, but also for many processes in the field of mechanical and automotive engineering as well as chemistry. The elegant stainless steel housing of the sensor is partially equipped with a blue anodised aluminum air cooling jacket. This cooling jacket protects the electronic components against overheating at process temperatures of up to 80 °C / 176 °F. When the sensor is switched off, CIP cleaning at the prescribed temperatures is of course possible.
The special design and the electronic equipment make it highly flexible and easy to handle. The device is programmed via WINDOWS based software. Two digital limit switches (up to 1 A) allow the user to directly activate valves for example, and to control magnetic valves to clean the prism.
The iPR B³ process refractometer can be installed in piping, mixing tanks, reaction vessels and storage tanks using a variety of weld-in flanges. Preferred process connection is VariVent. The advantage of this process connection in pipelines is that, depending on the process, a cleaning unit for the measuring prism can be retrofitted at any time. In addition to the well-known water or hot steam-based cleaning units, SCHMIDT + HAENSCH offers specially developed ultrasonic cleaning for particularly sensitive processes.
In addition to known standard scales, such as Brix, Oechsle, ethylene glycol, sodium chloride, urea, etc., SCHMIDT + HAENSCH also offers production-specific scales.
